Found, a la Elvis Presley crested Monkey

The researchers found hundreds of animal species during 2010 in the Mekong River region, South East Asia. There are at least 208 new species in the present invention.

The animals are very rare. Its existence was almost threatened with extinction. "The discovery during 2010 was new to science, but many have already ended at the dinner table," said Stuart Chapman, Director of Conservation WWF Greater Mekong, as reported by Reuters.

"They struggle to survive in a shrinking habitat and endangered species," said Chapman.

Among the new species under the spotlight in the report "Wildlife Mekong" was a colorful gecko. His legs were bright orange, yellow neck, and body blue-gray. These animals are found on an island in southern Vietnam.

Greater Mekong region including Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam, and Yunnan province in southern China. The scientists urged governments in the Mekong region to pay attention to the preservation of these animals.

"The government must stop thinking in the Mekong cost of biodiversity protection because it is an investment to ensure long-term stability," said Chapman.

"Treasure trove of biological diversity of this region will be lost if the government fails to invest in conservation that is so fundamental to ensuring long-term sustainability in the face of global environmental change."

In addition to monkeys crested geckos and colorful, other animals found are the Mekong dolphins. This animal populations in the critically endangered Mekong river.
